Graduate Survey (EHA)

Description

The Graduate Surveys are nationwide surveys on the employment and education situation of university level graduates at all academic levels conducted by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO). The online questionnaire consists of a FSO module used for all Swiss universities and a UZH-specific question module.

Purpose

The data collected provide information on the quality of education and teaching at UZH and the employability of UZH graduates as important indicators of educational success. In addition, it allows for comparisons of KPIs between Swiss universities.

Frequency / Timeline

Every second graduation cohort is surveyed one and five years after graduation. One year after each data collection, the FSO delivers the processed data set to the UZH.

KPIs

  • FSO module: professional and academic career before university education, progress of university education, information on doctorate, postgraduate education and training, transition from study to work, current employment, knowledge and skills, demographic characteristics, and personal situation
  • UZH module: reasons for studying at UZH, overall satisfaction, satisfaction with individual aspects of the study program(s) (e.g., information/advising, learning infrastructure, feasibility of completing studies, assessments/supervision, introductory phase of study, study goals, supervision of thesis), reasons for exceeding the standard period of study

Stakeholder groups involved

  • Graduates participate in the surveys and provide feedback to UZH.
  • Study program directors, the Offices of Student Affairs, and central units of UZH receive analyzed or raw data upon request and can use these for their internal quality processes (e.g., Quality Meetings, Self-Evaluation Reports). Selected KPIs are also visualized in the Quality Index Education & Teaching (QSL).
