Quality Meetings (Q-Meetings)

Content

Description

A Quality Meeting is an exchange meeting in which all relevant stakeholders of a study program - including the students - discuss quality-relevant topics concerning education and teaching. Moreover, development goals and measures are to be identified and defined. The results are recorded in a Quality Meeting Summary (Q-Summary), which can be viewed and commented on by all participants. The goals and measures agreed upon are then reviewed in the subsequent Q-Meeting. The entire Q-Meeting process is supported by the QM portal.

Purpose

The objective of the Quality Meeting is to engage in dialogue and reflection regarding the quality of a study program. The aim is to identify the need for action and to define development goals and measures to improve the quality of the study program.

Frequency / Timeline

Quality Meetings are held biennially for established study programs and annually for new or revised study programs for a period of four years (biennially thereafter).

Stakeholder groups involved

  • Students suggest topics for discussion, at least one of their topics must be chosen for discussion in the Q-Meeting. Students participate in the Q-Meeting and are actively involved in setting goals and measures to improve teaching and learning in their study program. They can view and comment on the Q- Summary.
  • Instructors may suggest topics for discussion, participate in the Q-Meeting and view and comment on the Q-Summary.
  • Study program directors contribute topics and participate in the Q-Meeting. They are responsible for the planning, implementation and recording of the Q-Meeting. They can use information from the central quality instruments (Course Evaluations, Evaluations of Assessments, Monitoring Education & Teaching and Graduate Surveys) as a data basis.
  • Vice Deans of Studies contribute at least one topic from a strategic perspective and participate in the Q-Meeting whenever possible. They have access to the Q-Summaries of their faculty at all times.
